The problem with intermittent heavy rain Thursday afternoon: It’s not fit to race a long time trial, but if I don’t go out to the start maybe everyone else would have made the race. The race director might cancel out on a rainy night, but not with a parking lot full of folks ready to go - unless, of course, an electrical storm approaches. So it was that 23 riders queued up in warm rain for a 25 mile round trip from Grand Rapids to the Campbell Soup plant (The Can) at Napoleon. Senior Matt Thourot was first; Vet Jonathan Brinkman was fourth and Master Eric Snider was fifth.
