Scoring the Omnium
Here's how we scored the omnium. Finish order was tallied for the Criterium and
points were assigned to the finishers as usual. (Columns 1 and 2.) Likewise for
the Miss-n-Out (columns 3 and 4) and the Win-n-Out (columns 5 and 6). For each
rider the average place was calculated (column 8) and the average points were
calculated (column 9). When the array is sorted, first by points, then by place,
the final order is obtained (column 10).
Thus
Pauken is shown leading Geffe, since Pauken accumulated more points, although
the two tied for average place.
