Race Director Joe Dollman rounded up a set of six volunteers to man this complex new course. The country roads outside Grand Rapids, Ohio, are familiar to Breakfast Club riders, but not in the context of a race. The many turns and rises on the roads made for an interesting race (riders seemed to like it) ~ one that would be tough to keep safe from traffic later in the season when the crops are taller.
The weather was the most pleasant of the season so far. Photographer J. D. Pooley took a set of photos with Rey Gamboa's camera, see them below. J. D. will do much better with his own equipment at next week's criterium.
Newcomer Senior Dave O'Neil finished first, about 50 yards in front of the lead group. Vet Dave Komives was fourth, Junior Jonas Root was 10th and Master Pio Apostoli was 11th.
