The finish of this race was almost as exciting as last year's confrontation with the phalanx of emergency vehicles at Colton, OH. A Vet won! Handily. Vet Jonathan Wright, having read Zack Clark's comments on the Perrysburg Grand Prix, restored his awesome racing reputation with a handy win. Not bad for an old man! That is the first Vet win in recent memory.
Where were Adam Slough, Matt Thourot and the other hot dogs? Back down the line getting their nerves back together after avoiding a group lay-down when Dave Komives' derailleur took out a couple of Matt Thourot's spokes. (No bodily harm done - lots of wet shorts.) Master Jim Regan finished second, Junior Andy Pauken was third and Senior Rob Foshag was fourth.
Karen McKee had suffered a nasty concussion and lots of bruises when she was struck by a van while on the way to the Tuesday night training ride in Sylvania. She brought her lifesaving helmet to the race and joined about 25 of us for dinner at El Vaguero.
