34k Road Race at Colton

Well, we know who the die-hards are. Heavy weather for this race. Gully washers swept through the area at 5:00, following an afternoon of continuing rain. Thunderstorms were promised. But 22 riders and Scott Main's full complement of workers showed up to race anyway. Country folks passing in their pickups grinned and shook their heads at the sodden corner guards and at the small peloton splashing through the rain. Unlike the past two years, no crashes or platoons of emergency vehicles on the course - just rain. Happily, the temperature was in the upper 60's.

Master Steve Clark, along with Senior Matt Thourot and Vet Dave Komives, put a huge gap on the peloton on the first of three laps, and kept it there until they finished in that order. Dinner and margaritas at El Vaquero in Perrysburg.
