Race 19, August 26

29K Time Trial & Picnic at Otsego Park

Never mind that the weather folks predicted 70% chance of thunderstorms and a brisk wind from the SW; never mind that 2.25 miles of River Road were torn up - the race went off on time. Senior Adam Sczec pulled off a 45:03; Vet Mark Armstrong 45:44; Master Hal Strait 47:16; Buckeye Gary Tarsha 47:50. Junior Joshua Burkhart rode a 51:11 to edge out big brother Christian by 26 seconds. The record on this course is 40:32, set by Jon Card 9/5/02. Treasurer Steve Sams organized a fine pot-luck picnic for the Shelter house. Matt Thourot, since he's on the injured reserve, was appointed chief cook. No photos, the photographer being more interested in finding a beer and some food.
