It was nicely warm and a little humid, with a stiff breeze, making for an excellent race out along the Portage River. Master Jeff Crawford, and Seniors Mike Busa and Mike House escaped off the front on the first lap, and stayed away for the rest of the race. Crawford took a sprint prime on the second of four laps, but House left him and Busa way behind to finish first. Age and treachery may sometimes win over youth and talent, but Jeff forgot the treachery part. Master Jeff Crawford was third, Vet Mark Armstrong fourth, Buckeye Gary Tarsha 12th, and novice racer Chris Gulgin 21st, for the women. There were about as many for dinner at El Vaquero as there were at the race, including old Wheelmen John and Andrew Fry.
