Never mind the rainy forecast, 22 riders headed out into the gloom along the Portage River for a 4-lap tour of green farm country. Taking advantage of the wind, five riders ditched the peloton and stayed at least a mile off the front. Clark took the first prime; Wiederhold took a second prime for the chase group. Master Jeff Crawford finished first; Vet Mark Armstrong was third; Senior Mike Peiffer was ninth and took his place on the Senior Trophy. Rain commenced in earnest just as Director Faehnle was recording finish orders. The Burkhart Family had brought along fantastic prize money, and Bike Works and Mountain Man Stores had sent awards for each category - for which we offer many thanks. Faehnle later presented awards and primes during dinner at El Vaquero. The center photo is Christian at his first Omnium, Bowling Green, June 3, 2004
