The Hell Century Run

The second major accomplishment of the general membership meeting was the final
organization of the Century Run.

We still need a few people to help, specifically at the two food stops. We need
two people for the stop at Marshall's and one person for the lunch stop. If you're
not planning to ride, please call me and volunteer your services.
Linda Myers will be heading the stop at Marshall's and Cindy Williams and Donna
Meister will handle the lunch stop. Ken and Sue Abrass will help them obtain
the food.

Ken, Sue and Neil Youngston will take care of registration in the morning and Mark
Tyson and Lenny Meister will be at the check out desk (they're riding but intend
to finish before 1:00 p.m. - if you see them on the road give them a spare tire -
they'll need it.')

Skip will be calling all of the local police and state patrols to inform them
of our event. Along with Terry Bragg, Jeff Kozy, and Bev Shible, Skip will also
drive sag and repair wagon. Terry will take care of the Dan Henry arrows before
the ride.

Neil has obtained some type of T.V. news coverage for us. We don't know if it'll
just be an announcement or a film team. However, Cindy found a photographer. We
pay the cost of film and he does the work grates.

We're going to try out a new system to cut out any moochers on the ride. Each
rider will have a plastic square with his assigned number on 'it. In order to
receive the food, the rider must present this square to be checked .off. Three
checks and you're through eating.

The sag wagons will be used only in emergencies. The drivers can do quick repairs
and will do so when necessary. Since most of the riders so far registered are
between 30 and 50, we should have capable riders needing little assistance. The
.cars will be running on 25 mile stretches. Ideally the riders should see a sag
wagon every 15 minutes.

We have enough qualified repairmen on the road that we should be able to cure
bicycle ills in a short amount of time. Two of the notables are Bernie and Chris
from West Toledo Bike Shop.

An added attraction: Keith Larzelere, National Commander of the Highwheeler will
lead the ride out of town on his highwheeler.

L.A.W. has sent us forms for registering an individual's completion of a century
run. Any L.A..W. member participating in completing the Hell Century Run in 12
hours or less will be eligible for an L.A.W. National Century Run Patch by com-
pleting the form.

If you have any questions or suggestions please call Skip at 878-6806. I'll be
unreachable until the 12th "oŁ- September because I'll be on vacation.

See you on September l7th!
