Mike Walden Velodrome

Driving Directions

Getting there:

With major construction projects now complete, I-75 is again the fastest way to the track.

Take I-75 North all the way up to Exit 77A, which is M-59 East. Stay on 5Wheels at the criterium9 East and exit on to Rochester Road (Rochester/Troy exit). Turn left at the light at the end of the exit ramp onto to Rochester and travel north on Rochester past a few strip malls and through 5 lights. Turn right at Avon and then, at the first light, turn left on to John R, which dead ends into the entrance for Bloomer Park.

If the attendant’s in her shack, it’s five bucks a vehicle to get in the park without a season permit. There’s a three-dollar donation for the NAS-TRACK show on The Hill; kids and seniors are free.

If you’ve never been to Bloomer Park, the park itself is pretty nice, picnic tables and pavilions, lots of new playground equipment, a cricket field, and, I’m told, some fine mountain bike trails.

The velodrome is located 100 meters beyond the parking lot at its farthest end from the entrance. You’ll see The Hill and hear the rumble of the boards.
