The Toledo Area Bicycle Racing Club
Club Activities
The Racing Season.From
April through September the club schedules races every
Thursday evening. Members compete for points as Juniors (under 20 years old), Seniors
(under 35), Masters (under 45), Vets (the really old guys) and all the women. Everyone shares in working at the
races. Courses for road races and time trials are on country
roads, criteriums and track-style races are on an industrial park circuit.
Training Rides. All year
around members arrange informal training rides that aren't club functions. E-mail us for information. Members go together to
USCF races and to local tours (especially the annual Columbus Fall Challenge.)
Weekend Rides.
Every Sat. and Sun. there is the "Breakfast Club"
ride. Again, this isn't a "club ride". It's unorganized, but has a life of its
own after 18 years. The group leaves Ft. Meigs in
Perrysburg, Ohio, at 8:00 a.m. from June 1 through September 21st. (9:00 a.m. September
27th through May.) Unless it's slippery or colder than 15 deg. F. , at least a few show up
whatever the weather. All ride 16 to 25 miles to Grand Rapids, Ohio, for breakfast, then
on.
And Club Stuff.
We publish a monthly newsletter, have an annual banquet, do other social things as most
clubs do. But we seem to enjoy each other's company more than most such organizations.
