The Breakfast Club

dot_clear.gif (42 bytes)Every Saturday and Sunday morning, and most holidays, an informal ride forms at Ft. Meigs in Perrysburg, Ohio. Year around, and year after year, the group rides out 16 miles to Grand Rapids, Ohio for breakfast at C&J's Family Affair Restaurant. The ride down is usually fast-paced (more like go for broke; 25mph+, sustained). After breakfast some turn around and head home. Others head out for more mileage at a much more reasonable pace. Favorite long-haul routes in open countryside can bring riders home with 50-100 miles total.

dot_clear.gif (42 bytes)If you are coming to this ride for the first time, you should plan to ride with the "slow group". That group, which goes off 15 minutes early, isn't exactly slow either - running at about 22mph - but you are likely to get some help if you are a novice at paceline riding or are struggling to keep up with the group.

dot_clear.gif (42 bytes)The ride happens year around, never mind the weather. Serious rain at the start will keep most home, as will icy roads in winter or temperatures less than 15 degrees F.

dot_clear.gif (42 bytes)Take-off time is 9:00 a.m. during the fall, winter and early spring.    Slower folks leave exactly 15 minutes early. Find a map to the start here.
