The mission of Team Saturn of Toledo is to develop the sport of bicycle racing in the greater Toledo area at the junior, senior and masters levels for men and women. 

Strategic Plan

Phase I : Development of a senior men’s team capable of maintaining a high profile in the greater Toledo area – time frame: immediate

This will allow us to:

1. Build a strong sponsorship base from which phase II can be launched,

2.  Attract the attention of young, developing riders

3. Develop team name recognition among the general public of our community

4. Develop team name recognition and respect within the bicycle racing community in the greater Toledo area

Phase II: Development of junior men’s and women’s components of Team Saturn of Toledo and development of a collaborative relationship with the Maumee Valley Wheelmen – time frame: 1 year

This will allow us to:

5. Develop expanded community interest and support as outlined in numbers 1 - 4 above.

6. Provide coaching, mentoring, advice, and financial support to young, developing riders

7. Contribute to the development of interest and participation in cycling at all levels.

Phase III:  Race and Clinic Promotion – time frame: 2-3 years

8. Continue to implement steps 1-7

9. Promotion of high-profile road racing events

10. Promotion of winter events such as roller racing at local malls

11. Promotion of clinics on a wide range of topics from introductory riding skills, through race tactics to bicycle maintenance and safety

In short we plan to create an environment in which aspiring racers of all levels can progress to the best of their abilities.  These are challenging, but not unreachable goals for Team Saturn of Toledo.  In order to accomplish these goals we will need to win support and develop collaborative relationships with the Maumee Valley Wheelmen, local businesses, and community organizations.
