David Clark is general manager of FreeWheel, a Comcast Company. He is responsible for the strategy and direction of the global organization, which provides advertising software and solutions for the entire television ecosystem. In this role, Dave oversees all business divisions, solving the business challenges of both marketers and publishers. He also oversees internal functions including finance, marketing and human resources. Dave is leading FreeWheel’s efforts to unify the digital and linear TV landscape and manages the development and deployment of innovative technologies serving publishers, advertisers and agencies.
In 2017, Dave joined Comcast as executive vice president of advanced advertising to oversee Comcast Cable’s advertising technology business. In this role, he helped bring together the people, assets and capabilities of Strata, FreeWheel and Visible World under one brand, as FreeWheel, a Comcast Company. FreeWheel now consists of more than 1500 employees worldwide.
Dave has more than 22 years of experience in media and technology. Previously, he was president of The Weather Channel (TWC). As president, he managed programming, strategy and operations and led the company to earn prestigious awards including The Governor’s Award for Excellence from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the George Polk Award for television reporting.
Prior to TWC, Dave served as executive vice president of The Madison Square Garden Company (MSG), where he implemented sales and partnership strategies across MSG brands. He was also general manager of Fuse, MSG’s music channel. Under Dave’s leadership, Fuse won the 2013 Gold PromaxBDA award for network rebrand of the year.
Dave began his career in media and advertising sales at Viacom/MTV Networks, leading the company’s global marketing partnerships group.
For more than 20 years, Dave has been actively involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. He is currently chair of the board.
Dave holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and political science from Tulane University. He is also a graduate of the Cable Executive Management program at Harvard Business School. He resides in Connecticut with his family.
